I get it. You don’t wake up every single day, look in the mirror and think “awesome.”
Sometimes it can be really hard to appreciate your body, when we’re being slapped in the face every other minute with photoshopped bodies that tell us that the way we exist in the world isn’t right.
But here’s the thing, constantly telling yourself that you’ll be more worthy of [insert your hopes and dreams here] if you look a certain way serves no one, least of all you.
If your brain is telling you that looking like someone else is the only way you’re going to be successful, you’re never going to be successful because you’re never going to look like anyone else.
Your internal talk can be pretty powerful. Imagine if tomorrow you looked in the mirror and didn’t isolate all the things you want to change. Imagine if you could appreciate everything that your body does for you instead? What else do you think would change with that slight shift in self-talk?
Flipping the switch doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a lot of hard work and a lot of patience with yourself. With this being said, building a healthy relationship with your body comes from more than just cutting the negative self-talk. It is a process that encompasses every part of your life, from exercise to sleep to nutrition to what you do for fun.
For most of my life, I have had a really negative relationship with my body.
I tried all the fad diets.
I tried all the quick fix tips and tricks in the magazines.
I tried to imagine what it would feel like to have a thigh gap, larger breasts, smaller arms.
My great day could be overturned in an instant by stepping on a scale and seeing a number I didn't want, or comparing my body with someone elses who in my brain was a superhuman with no flaws.
Throught my career as an Exercise Physiologist, I worked with so many women, of all ages and sizes, who told me that losing weight would make them happier, more successful, better wives, better mothers, better friends. And it flicked a switch in my own brain. Your body actually plays no role in becoming the best version of yourself. Losing weight didn't help any of my clients achieve their goals, because they were completely unrelated.

"I came to Rachel after years of high-stress and pain, and she was a miracle worker. She was able to identify the source of my problems and work on a program that helped me get back in control of my life! I cannot recommend Rachel enough!"
